BEFORE THE YEAR IS OVER
Come See What We're Doing
Three evenings. Three questions. One life you're still living.
Before the Year Is Over
Three live gatherings. Three hours to stop long enough to notice the life you are actually living.
Come See What These Gatherings Will Be Like
You probably do not need more information.
You probably do not need another person telling you how to fix your life, organize the rest of the year, make better habits, set better goals, or become a better version of yourself before January.
You may need somewhere quiet enough to hear yourself again.
That is what these three gatherings are for.
Before the Year Is Over is a live online experience across October, November, and December.
We will begin with three words:
Reflect.
Consider.
Hope.
But we will not spend the hour talking about them.
We will make room to experience them.
There will be breath.
Movement.
Questions.
Silence.
Time to notice what is happening in your body, your thoughts, your emotions, your relationships, your faith, and the ordinary life you are living right now.
No performance. No right answers. No demand that you arrive anywhere other than where you actually are.
October 29: Reflect
What have you lived this year?
Not the polished version.
The year you actually lived.
What surprised you?
What hurt?
What delighted you?
What changed you?
What did you lose?
What found you?
We will take time to notice the life that has already happened before we hurry past it.
November 12: Consider
Where are you now?
The holidays are approaching. Calendars begin filling. Expectations arrive. Family, work, traditions, grief, joy, obligation, faith, memory, and exhaustion can all end up sitting at the same table.
Before all of that carries you forward, we will stop.
What do you need?
Who do you want to be in the middle of what is coming?
What supports that person?
What gets in the way?
What might you choose deliberately?
December 10: Hope
Before we turn toward another year, we will ask a different kind of question.
What do you hope?
Not what should you accomplish.
Not what should you become.
What are you reaching toward?
Who do you want to be a year from now?
What feels alive?
What are you ready to carry with you?
What might you leave behind?
And what would it mean to enter 2027 having actually noticed that you were here?
What the hour will feel like
I will not spend the hour teaching at you.
I will guide the room.
I may invite you to take a longer breath.
To shift your body.
To notice where tension has gathered.
To sit with a question.
To pay attention to what becomes louder when everything else becomes quiet.
Sometimes I will speak.
Sometimes we will leave room for silence.
Because silence has a way of showing us both what is restless within us and what has already begun to settle.
You do not have to share anything you do not want to share.
You do not have to perform insight.
You do not have to become calm.
You are the person living your life.
This is simply room to listen.
And for me, that room includes God.
My own life and work are rooted in Jesus and Christian faith. I will not hide that or apologize for it. But you do not need to use my language in order to come.
You may understand the space as prayer, presence, listening, God, spiritual practice, or simply one hour in which nobody is asking you to become anything.
Come as you are.
Before and after each gathering
Before each gathering, I will send you a few things to help you arrive.
Afterward, I will send you something to help you continue noticing what surfaced.
Nothing enormous.
Nothing else to keep up with.
The center of this experience is the hour itself.
A place to stop.
To listen.
To breathe.
To make room for what is real.
