Hello -
My name is Elle Mims Driscoll-Miller. I serve as a spiritual director, somatic therapist, and author here in the New River Valley. My work has always been about tending the fragile and beautiful places where faith, formation, and the body meet. Over the years, one practice has risen again and again as both ancient and urgently needed: the practice of silence and stillness.
I do not mean silence as the mere absence of sound, or stillness as the performance of sitting rigidly in a chair. I mean silence as Presence—stillness as the return to coherence in a world that frays us thin. These practices do not remove us from life; they anchor us within it. They calm the nervous system, clear the inner clutter, and remind us of who we are before God and one another.
This November, I will be hosting a live three-hour online retreat, The Gift of Quiet: A Practice of Silence and Stillness, on Saturday, November 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EST. It will be a time of gentle teaching, guided silence, and shared practice—a space to step out of the noise and rediscover the kind of quiet that steadies, heals, and restores.
This gathering is part of a larger journey I’ve created for individuals and communities who long for more:
Quiet That Holds (75-Minute Class): A first step into silence and stillness.
The Practice of Silence Masterclass: A deeper immersion, weaving teaching and practice together.
The Six-Week Course: A longer arc of integration, helping silence shape daily life.
Half-Day Online Retreat: November 15, 2025 at 9:30am -12:30pm EST. (Link is on Website)
Full-Day In-Person Retreat: February 2026 in Southwest Virginia.
Weekend In-Person Retreat: Summer 2026 (location TBD).
You can find details for all of these offerings at elledmiller.com under the heading, The Practice of Silence Class and Retreat.
I would be honored if you would join us—or share this invitation with those in your care and circles of influence who may be longing for something deeper than noise, something more lasting than performance: the quiet that holds.
With Gratitude,
Elle Mims Driscoll-Miller
