Module 3: Anchoring Through Gentle Movement

Finding Rest Without Being Still

Stillness is not always the absence of movement. In this module, we explore how gentle, intentional motion—washing dishes, walking the grocery aisle, folding laundry, swaying in place—can become a way of anchoring into the present. By combining breath awareness, sensation, and slow movement, you’ll learn to cultivate inner rest even when life requires activity.

Gentle movement can keep you tethered when long periods of stillness feel unmooring. Whether it’s a stretch, a shift in posture, or a mindful step, these movements become invitations to inhabit your body, deepen awareness, and align your inner and outer quiet.

Practice Tips:

  • Notice your breath while you move—feel the rise and fall in your chest or belly.

  • Slow down your motion in everyday activities to anchor into sensation.

  • Engage your senses—notice textures, temperatures, sounds, and sights around you.

  • Use movement as prayer—invite God’s presence into each stretch, step, or gesture.

  • Check in with yourself by asking, What’s happening now?

Reflection Questions:

  1. How does slowing your movement change your awareness of the present moment?

  2. Where do you notice tension, and how does it shift with gentle motion?

  3. What movements feel most natural for you to pair with prayer or reflection?

Scripture for Meditation:

"In Him we live and move and have our being."
—Acts 17:28
