The Practice of Silence

A journey into stillness, silence, and the presence of God

The Core Message

Stillness is not the absence of sound. It is the presence of God.

In a world of constant motion and endless noise, silence has become a lost practice—and yet it is where God often speaks most clearly. This course is an invitation to reclaim stillness as sacred presence. Through Scripture, gentle somatic practices, and spiritual reflection, you’ll be guided into a rhythm of quiet that restores, grounds, and reveals. From 30 seconds to a full-day retreat, we’ll learn to listen again.

Who This Is For

This course is open to anyone who longs to breathe again.

Whether you’re in a season of transition, spiritual weariness, or a deep longing for something more grounded than noise—this is for you. For individuals, communities, and leaders seeking a quiet that heals and holds. You don’t need to be experienced in silence—you only need to be willing to begin.

The modules below can be moved through in order or revisited in your own rhythm. Each one offers teaching, Scripture, somatic practice, and space to listen deeply.

Module 1: The Call to Stillness

Why we fear the quiet—and why it’s sacred.

We begin at the threshold. This first module invites you to meet stillness as a gentle return, not a demand. Through Scripture and quiet noticing, you’ll learn to soften into silence without pressure.
Scriptures: Psalm 46:10, Exodus 14:14, Isaiah 30:15
Practice: 30 seconds of silence
Somatic Focus: Gentle noticing without judgment

Module 2: The Body in the Quiet

Stillness is not disconnection—it’s deeper presence.

What happens in the body when we become still? This module explores how silence stirs the nervous system, and how we can stay grounded through breath, Scripture, and simple embodied practices.
Practice: 1–3 minutes of silence
Somatic Focus: Orienting, breath, grounding

Module 3: The Noise Within

Silence reveals what noise has kept hidden.

Thoughts don’t disappear in stillness—they rise. This module helps you meet inner noise with compassion, not control. We’ll explore movement as prayer and anchor presence through everyday embodiment.
Practice: 5–10 minutes of silence
Somatic Focus: Anchoring during gentle movement

Module 4: Silence as a Way of Knowing

Stillness makes room for discernment.

Silence is not just rest—it’s revelation. Through the patterns of Jesus and the wisdom of Scripture, this module offers silence as a means of knowing God, yourself, and what is true in your current season.
Scriptures: Luke 5:16, Mark 1:35, 1 Kings 19
Practice: 15–30 minutes of silence
Somatic Focus: Tracking “yes” and “no” in the body

Module 5: Building a Life of Quiet

Stillness is not a moment. It’s a way of being.

In this module, we begin to integrate silence into the patterns of daily life. Not as performance, but as presence. You’ll be invited to expand your personal practice and notice how quiet can walk with you.
Practice: 1-hour personal silent time
Somatic Focus: Noticing before, during, and after silence

Module 6: Communal Stillness

When silence is shared, something sacred opens.

What happens when we are silent together? This final module explores the power of collective stillness and how to gently hold space for others. We learn to listen not only for God, but with one another.
Practice: Group silence with reflection
Somatic Focus: Co-regulation and shared presence
